Liza Reyes is The GUCH (Grown-Up Congenital Heart) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) for the Cardiac Services. She has been working at The Harley Street Clinic since Sept 2005 and has been a cardiac nurse for 11 years. She has worked in various hospitals throughout London where she completed her nursing degree. Liza has completed the cardiac course at City University and currently holds an Advanced Life Support Certificate. She has completed her Post Grad Cert in Congenital Cardiothoracic Course at Coventry University in Jan 2013. She is a senior Cardiac Sister on the adult ward, and is in process of setting up the Transition Program for the young GUCH adolescents in the clinic. She has a wide range of experience across the cardiac areas. Liza is also planning to continue her MSc Advanced Practice this year.

Description of the service/speciality at the hospital that the CNS supports

The Harley Street Clinic GUCH Services are provided by a team of specialised GUCH Cardiologists, GUCH cardiac surgeons, cardiac nurses and the multi-disciplinary team.

The Harley Street Clinic has both cardiac inpatient and outpatient facilities, enabling the provision of comprehensive care across all of the cardiac departments. The services provided by these departments include:

How the CNS role fits into this service

The GUCH CNS works collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), co-ordinating the care and treatment of patients requiring GUCH services at The Harley Street Clinic and ensuring that care provided is of high quality. Liza maintains an effective channel of communication between patients and their families and the multi-disciplinary team. She does not only co-ordinate the patients’ journey but also follows-up with post-op phone calls here and abroad. She supports the cardiac team in the delivery of an integrated, lifetime seamless and continuous service throughout the entire patient’s journey by delivering education, guidance and support for patients, their families and other healthcare professionals.
