  • Research Interests:Professor O’Neill’s research group uses advanced imaging techniques such as MRI to help understand, predict and improve patient response to established and novel catheter ablation therapies for atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia.
Biography:

Professor O’Neill completed his DPhil as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford in 1995 and qualified in first place from University College Dublin Medical school in 1998 with first class honours. He trained in cardiology and electrophysiology in North West London, principally St. Mary’s Hospital, and completed an AF ablation research fellowship in Bordeaux, France with Professors Haissaguerre and Jais. Appointed in 2008, he is a Consultant Cardiologist and Reader in Cardiac Electrophysiology at St. Thomas’ Hospital and King’s College London, Training Programme lead for Electrophysiology for London and a member of the Council of Heart Rhythm UK. He sees patients with all aspects of cardiovascular disease, specialising in the management of heart rhythm disturbances.
