Paying for the Treatment
A patient who is insured will need to contact their insurance company to confirm that their policy covers treatments or investigations at The Harley Street Clinic. Following that they would need to obtain the authorisation number. Most insurance companies will entail a referral letter from patient’s GP, before they can authorise their initial consultation. If further investigations, such as diagnostic tests or treatment are recommended, the insurer will need to be kept informed throughout.
Without prior authorisation from the insurance company The Hospital would need a payment from a patient prior to having any diagnostic tests or procedures. If authorisation follows, they would need to claim this sum back from their insurer.
EMBASSY AND SPONSORED PATIENTS
A patient who is sponsored by an international embassy would need to liaise with their in-country doctors and their London Health Office as to how their referral system works. For those patients we have direct access to interpreters and we also have an international liaison team to help with any enquiries.
If a treatment is sponsored by a company or an international embassy the patient will need to request a Letter of Guarantee to be issued prior to their arrival at The Hospital to cover the treatment or any investigations.
A patient who is self-funding will be required to pay on the day of their appointment (consultation, investigations, ect.). If a surgery is required, payment will need to be made in full before the procedure. The Hospital accepts all major credit cards (including Diners and American Express), cash and personal cheque with a banker’s card as well as bank transfers.
A passport must support sterling silver travellers cheques.
The initial consultation fee is set up by the consultant. Their secretary will be able to provide the quote.
For postal payments, a patient would need to make their cheque payable to either The Harley Street Clinic or HCA International and send to:
The Harley Street Clinic

242 Marylebone Road
London NW1 6JL
