The Harley Street Clinic's vision is to provide a healthcare service that ensures the highest possible standards of quality care and clinical excellence to all of our patients

We invest a great deal in training and development programmes for our staff. Our main priority is to care for our patients who can be ensured that they will be looked after by compassionate and experienced clinical and non-clinical staff.

Our faculty of Consultants includes people with ground-breaking medical achievements. The faculty of Nursing is established to recognise patient care and management as a major front line activity, with expectations of expertise and professionalism equivalent to the highest level of any medical services. All these skills are supported by a continuing programme of progressive investigation and development.

Patient-centred philosophy

The Hospital’s consistent level of success comes because it sees the patient as an individual with unique needs. Each personal journey in our care is specifically determined by pre-assessment and advice, through treatment and aftercare, drawing on mainstream medical services complemented by holistic support, in full consultation with the patient.

Medical recognition

The Harley Street Clinic is unique in the UK for its work in paediatric cardiac surgery and it has been named by the Healthcare Commission as one of London’s top heart surgery centres.

You can also see our role in collaborative excellence in the medical world. We’re partners with University College Hospital London in a highly specialist cancer unit and partners with Barts and The London NHS Trust in a gamma knife unit. We’re one of six hospitals in HCA International – a leading group in the provision of independent healthcare services and the largest provider of cancer services in the UK outside of the NHS. We are also at the forefront of new cancer drug development.


The Harley Street Clinic is registered with the Healthcare Commission who regularly inspects us in all areas and measures us against its national standards. The Clinic has also achieved HQS and ISO 9001:2000 accreditation which is an additional voluntary accreditation.

Within cancer services, the Breast Care Nurses, Patient Information Centre and Pharmacy are accredited by Macmillan Cancer Support. The Cancer Centre has launched a Breakthrough Breast Cancer Service Pledge which is a commitment to the high standards of care at the Clinic. It is also BUPA accredited in breast cancer, colorectal cancer and gynaecological cancer.

For its cardiac services, the Clinic has been awarded Centre of Excellence status by the Clinical Cardiovascular Management Network in association with HCA’s Quality, Safety and Improvement Department in the USA.

The Harley Street Clinic has achieved Hospitality Assured standards for service and business excellence.

Here are some of our latest quality outcomes :

The MRSA rate for The Harley Street Clinic was 0 per cent per 10,000 patient bed days compared to 1.7% for other London hospitals in 2006

We are 25 times less likely to have a C.Difficile outbreak at our hospital. Our C.Difficile infection rate for 2006 (for patients over 65 years) was 0.1 % compared to other London hospitals at 2.4%

The Harley Street Clinic cardiac survival rate for the 12 months to March 2006 was 99.2% compared to all UK hospitals at 98.4%. The Healthcare Commission named The Harley Street Clinic as one of the top 10 hospitals for heart surgery in London. Healthcare Commission report :

The hospital’s paediatric cardiac outcomes are above the national average for most procedures. The outcomes are published on the Central Cardiac Audit Database/Healthcare Commission website for Paediatric Cardiac Surgery

Figures show that our outcome results for chemotherapy treatment for early breast cancer are above national and international levels

Patient satisfaction

At The Harley Street Clinic we maintain the highest levels of patient satisfaction. We value patient feedback as it helps us to improve our services. All patients receive a questionnaire which they are encouraged to complete and the results are analysed by an independent company.

The latest independently monitored patient feedback (based on 1729 responses) for 2014 included the following:

  • 97% of patients would be extremely likely or Likely to recommend us
  • 96% rated the overall quality of care as excellent or very good
  • 94% rated the individual attention as excellent or very good
  • 93% rated consistent standard of nursing care as excellent or very good
  • 99% rated cleanliness of room and bathroom as good or better
  • 100% had complete confidence and trust in the treating doctors

These figures – which are consistently high – are monitored on a monthly basis to ensure high levels of quality are always offered to patients.
