Biography:

Lisa San-Martin completed her Bachelor of Nursing in Australia and went on to work within a surgical endocrine, plastics and reconstruction speciality where she gained broad surgical experience and developed her interest in Breast Care. Lisa also has experience in radiotherapy and chemotherapy and has completed postgraduate level specialisations in Breast Care Nursing in both the United Kingdom and Australia.

Lisa joined the Breast Care Clinical Nurse Specialist Team at The Harley Street Clinic in 2013. As a Breast Care Nurse Lisa supports patients and their significant others undergoing investigations and treatment for a variety of breast diseases. Lisa works closely with Breast Surgeons, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Clinical Oncologists and Radio-Oncologists as well as liaising with community services to ensure continuity of care for patients of The Harley Street Clinic. Lisa recognises the sensitive nature of a patient’s diagnosis and is able to provide support by way of physical, emotional, practical and information support.

Lisa thoroughly enjoys the diversity of her role as a Breast Care Nurse and the opportunity it brings meet such an array of people.

Description of the service/speciality at the hospital that the CNS supports

The Harley Street Clinic Breast Care Service is provided by a team of specialised Breast Surgeons, Oncologists, Plastic Surgeons, Radiologists and Breast Care Nurses.

The Harley Street Clinic has an inpatient and outpatient facility and is able to provide comprehensive care across all the
modalities of treatment required to treat Breast Cancer including Surgery, Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy.

How the CNS role fits into this service

The Breast Care CNS’s work closely with the Surgeons and Oncologists to ensure a seamless patient journey.

A Breast Care CNS will be present at diagnosis and is able provide support and information to patients and their families
regarding the various treatment options and management of side effects.

Patients may also access the Breast Care service once they have completed their treatment, thus providing continued support.

As well as working closely with the consultant team the CNS’s also run their own nurse-led clinics for: lymphoedema; prosthesis fitting and micro-pigmentation.
