Developments in Cardiac Care
Over the past six months, we have made a number of improvements to the facilities within our cardiac division. We have also been recognised as having excellent outcomes in the country for congenital heart disease.
New Low-Dose Scanner:
We are in the process of acquiring a new Siemens SOMATOM® Force lowdose scanner for patients at The Harley Street Clinic. The SOMATOM provides the industry’s fastest acquisition rate, allowing a scan of the chest and abdomen to be completed in just one second. In many cases, this will mean that a breath-hold is not necessary to acquire sharp images. This is especially beneficial for patients who are unable to hold their breath, such as the obese or elderly, unconscious or uncooperative cases, or small children who have been sedated in order to be scanned.
The SOMATOM scanner can scan the chest, abdomen and head and neck areas with 50% less dose than leading CT systems, making it a safer option for patients.
Cath Lab Refurb:
We recently secured funding to refurbish Catheter Laboratory 1, bringing in the latest technology and equipment to ensure a safer environment for our patients. Work will commence this autumn, with expected completion by winter 2017.
